LJ On the new record, musical a.d.d., and staying stoked

What’s up everyone,
Lee John here with some news and insights you may find nuggety and intriguing.
So we’ve been working really really hard on this new album (as yet untitled but I promise it’ll be a good one). We’re EXTREMELY excited about it you guys and I cannot wait til it’s done and out and ready for your earholes!

To make a record independently, and make it good, it takes quite a bit of time, effort, patience and grace. As the primary recording engineer/mixer for SayReal, my plate is full. In fact it’s overflowing with a delicious cornucopia of musical tidbits and sometimes I have a hard time staying focused. Certain songs I’m on drums, some I’m on bass, others guitar/vocals/triangle/shaker/kazoo etc… (actually no kazoo has made it onto anything. Yet.)
Though it’s super fun and what I’m most passionate about, sometimes I get overwhelmed and exhausted after hours and hours in the studio. My mindset can get a little whacky and I have to get out and re-stoke my overall happiness and well-being.
My way of doing this is preferably surfing, mostly lifting weights (LA’s surfing is not all it’s cracked up to be) and sometimes Yoga if Naia can do enough coercing to get me to shut up and lay down on the mat.

Other than doing fun exercise stuff to keep my head screwed on straight, I also have to make sure the groceries are bought, the laundry is washed, the crib is tidied and the bills are paid. It’s a lot to do. I think people call it ‘being an adult’. I call it ‘crap I have to do as to not become a life-hating a-hole that makes everyone around me miserable’. Just ask Naia how fun I am when the fridge is empty, the place is a total disaster and I haven’t surfed in a while (not pleasant).

So in conclusion:
-NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKS (so excited)
-LEE CAN’T DECIDE WHICH INSTRUMENT TO PLAY (not a surprise)
-SURF OR AT LEAST HIT THE GYM IF YOU DON’T WANNA GO NUTS (tight)
